Get Grilling!
Nothing beats the smoky flavor of grilled meat and veggies. Since some of us aren’t as comfortable in front of the grill as we are in front of the stove, here are a few tips to help you become a master of the backyard BBQ!
Choosing a Steak
With so many different cuts available, choosing one for the grill can be daunting. Look for good marbling — the white fat running through the meat. More marbling means a more flavorful, tender steak. Try a Rancher’s Legend ribeye. Their grain-fed diet ensures a well-marbled cut.
If you prefer the added flavor from a bone-in steak, look for a Rancher’s Legend T-Bone. You’ll get to enjoy two cuts — the tenderloin on one side of the bone, and the strip on the other. Flip your steak just once for clear, even grill marks.
Tricky Chicken
Foodtown chicken is a grilling staple! To avoid charred skin and under-cooked thighs, start by searing it directly over the coals for 2-3 minutes on each side. Then move the chicken to a cooler part of the grill, away from the coals for even cooking. When the internal temp reaches 165 degrees, it’s ready to eat!
Beyond Salad
Be prepared. Vegetarian options, like Green Way’s California Burger, will make sure no one goes home hungry. The patties are already cooked, so just heat them through on a clean section of the grill.
On the Side
You can grill just about any vegetable. Make kebabs by threading your veggies onto skewers, or toss them into a pouch made of Foodtown Aluminum Foil with a little olive oil, salt, and pepper. Grill until tender.
Don’t forget the fruit! Grilling slices of watermelon, pineapple, or peaches brings out their natural sweetness for a fresh, healthy treat.
